SINGAPORE - Prime Minister Stephen Harper has arrived in Singapore for the APEC summit.
Over the course of the next 24 hours, the leaders from 21 countries will discuss global economic recovery and trade flows.
However, because there has already been several high-level G20 meetings in the past year on these issues, this summit is seen as less about policy breakthroughs than an opportunity to assess incremental movement forward.
Financial governance reforms, co-ordinating global stimulus timetables and fighting protectionist trade sentiments are all on the agenda.
Harper's officials say the prime minister will also be working the corriders in Singapore in preparation for next summer's G8 and G20 summits in central Ontario.
Harper's next stop on his Asian tour is a three-day visit to India, his first since becoming prime minister in 2006.
