FREDERICTON - Green party Leader Elizabeth May says despite the threat of a possible lawsuit, she won't retract comments she made about a report on the health effects of Agent Orange and other defoliants at Canadian Forces Base Gagetown in New Brunswick.
May says if she made any factual errors, she'll correct them - but she says she's confident that what she said was right.
Elliot Sigal, executive-director of Intrinsik, the company that compiled the report, says the firm takes exception to comments May made during a speech in Halifax.
He says May's comments questioned the reputation of Intrinsik - formerly known as Cantox - and the quality of its work.
The report, released in June, concluded that the controversial defoliant spraying programs at the base posed almost no risk to the health of those who live on or near the base.
Sigal says May will be given time to retract her statements before the company decides whether it will file a lawsuit.
