Todd Towers may not have had what it took to become a cattle rancher, but through his design work he has found a different way to ride to success.

Towers is the president of Farmboy Fine Arts, a Vancouver-based company focusing on interior design. The company is currently working on 180 projects across the world for some of the most prominent hotel chains in the world. Farmboy Fine Arts clients include Trump, MGM, Wynn and Caesar's Palace.

"I couldn't cut it as a bronco rider that my dad probably wanted me to be," Towers told CTV's Canada AM.

"I went to art school and just packaged all of the ideas into growing up in a rural environment...and applied that to my own concept for the art trade."

Towers was called a "farm boy" when he attended university and kept the name when he decided to start the company. But despite the name of the company, Towers said that the design the company creates does not aspire to country and western style.

Instead, Towers said their farming background influences the way they approach their work adhering to a holistic style that combines "rural roots and urban design."

"There's a rooted feel within the work that we do," Towers said. "But we like to have an urban sensibility to the pieces we put out there."

The company is currently in Toronto at NeoCon, the largest tradeshow for the design industry in the country.

Later this month, the company will be launching an exclusive line of Farmboy art for Canadian homes in furniture stores.

While Towers has been designing projects around the world, his family who has lived and worked on their Alberta farm for generations have yet to seen any of his company's creations.

"My dad says he'll take my mom anywhere in the world as long as he can be home by six," Towers said. "He hasn't moved too far."
