Men behaving badly is a big theme at the movies this fall. Some of these bad boys repent for their sins and make good. Others wear a righteous face as they do dirty deals behind closed doors. From George Clooney's unsavoury take on U.S. politics in "The Ides of March" to Rowan Atkinson's impish turn as a British super-spy in "Johnny English Reborn," these macho treks to the dark side are a wild ride.

J. Edgar (Nov. 9)

The life of J. Edgar Hoover -- the FBI's original director -- gets the Hollywood treatment in "J. Edgar," a new biopic from director Clint Eastwood.

As America's top cop for five decades, Hoover wielded nearly unchecked authority. He had the power to manipulate evidence and kept secret files on public figures he detested, including Martin Luther King. Jr. and Robert Kennedy.

Eastwood and "J. Edgar" star Leonardo DiCaprio deliver a fascinating look at how absolute power corrupts absolutely. DiCaprio is already earning Oscar buzz for his performance. Ditto for Eastwood, who digs fearlessly into the past of a powerful titan.
