About This Campus

Founded in 1964, Cleveland State University is a public research institution with nearly 16,000 Â鶹´«Ã½s, 5 colleges and schools and more than 175 academic programs. According to the Brookings Institution, CSU is No. 18 in the U.S. among public universities that fulfill a critical dual mission: providing upward mobility and conducting impactful research. CSU recently was ranked No. 1 in the nation for increases in research expenditures, according to the National Science Foundation and is #1 in Ohio for upward mobility. Our dynamic campus in the heart of downtown Cleveland continues to evolve. CSU President Dr. Laura Bloomberg, who took office on April 26, 2022, is the eighth president of the University.

Location Information

We are an urban university located in the heart of beautiful downtown Cleveland. Adjacent to us is Playhouse Square, the largest theatre district outside NYC. Located on the shores of Lake Erie, Cleveland is home to great arts, parks, history, and sports. Easy access around town is available with an RTA U-Pass. Cleveland Hopkins International Airport is a quick 20 minute train ride away. We are halfway between Chicago and New York on I-90.

Helpful Information

CSU's state of the art Recreation Center is a free, favorite spot for Â鶹´«Ã½s outside of class. Nearby attractions include the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame (.5 miles), Playhouse Square (.1 mile), the Cleveland Orchestra (.8 miles), Cuyahoga Valley National Park (5 miles), the home stadiums of our professional sports teams the Browns, the Guardians and the Cavaliers as well as world-famous Cedar Point Amusement Park (60 miles) home to 18 roller coasters.

Notes About Housing
In 2023,Cleveland State acquired two nearby apartment complexes doubling our on-campus residence hall offerings. Students can now choose from Fenn Tower, Euclid Commons, the Langston or the Edge on Euclid for on-campus housing. Comparable off-campus housing in private apartment buildings adjacent to campus is also an option. Many local Â鶹´«Ã½s commute to campus.
