About This Campus

Winthrop, a public, coeducational university founded in 1886, is a competitive, comprehensive institution committed to being a model of excellence in public education. Within Winthrop's College of Arts and Sciences, Richard W. Riley College of Education, College of Business Administration, and College of Visual and Performing Arts, 6000 Â鶹´«Ã½s pursue more than 40 undergraduate and 24 graduate degree programs. All eligible degree programs are nationally accredited. Winthrop's beautiful, tree-lined campus is included in the National Register of Historic Places. The 418-acre campus combines century-old tradition with modern academic and Â鶹´«Ã½ life facilities. The Winthrop Eagles athletic teams compete in the Big South Conference. Approximately half of the Â鶹´«Ã½ body lives in one of the eight residence halls on campus. Winthrop is in Rock Hill, SC, just 25 miles south of Charlotte, NC. Limitations
Junior status is required to enroll in upper level courses in the College of Business Administration. Admission to the Teacher Education Program is required to enroll in upper level courses in the Richard W. Riley College of Education. Space permitting, restricted education courses are available for Â鶹´«Ã½s admitted to an NCATE approved program. A digital portfolio may be required to enroll in some Fine Arts classes.
