Football legend Joe Namath had heads turning at last night’s Super Bowl game when he showed up to the pre-game event decked out in a flashy fur coat, strikingly similar to the one worn by Toronto’s Ikea monkey.
The legendary quarterback may have botched last night’s ceremonial pre-game coin toss by flipping the coin prematurely, but the football star won over thousands of fans with his unusual sense of style.
The flamboyant NFL superstar donned a waist-length, hooded mink coat that had online fans quickly comparing the 70-year-old former athlete to the likes of rapper Macklemore and the infamous Ikea monkey, the Japanese macaque that made headlines last December after being found roaming an Ikea store in Toronto wearing a small fur coat.
Fans and celebrities flooded Twitter with their reactions to Namath’s outrageous sartorial style.

Even rapper P. Diddy joined the action, posting a picture on Instagram of himself and Namath wearing matching fur coats.
Namath, who also goes by the nickname “Broadway Joe,†is famous for his extravagant flare for fashion and has rocked mink jackets and fur coats since the 1970s when he played for the New York Jets.

While Namath’s coat found many an online admirer, animal rights group PETA was not impressed and voiced its anger over his choice to proudly wear animal fur.
TOO many. RT Yo , how many animals died to make Joe Namath's fur coat?
