Fans of Seth Rogen/James Franco comedies (it is a special genre of comedy) rejoiced after learning they'd be able to watch the film -- which was initially scrapped after threats from North Korea -- from the comfort of their own home. Many, including the film's stars and director, saw the release as a win for freedom of speech.

It didn't take long for the critics to chime in. Initial reviews were mixed. wrote: "The Interview is a bad movie that trivializes one of the worst ongoing human rights violations on our planet," while cautiously praised its "unpredictable absurdity and can-you-believe-we're-doing-this glee."
