Selena Gomez will celebrate turning 21 by having her first legal alcoholic drink in a restaurant.

The 'Come and Get' hitmaker reached the landmark age Monday and she intends to mark the special occasion with a great meal accompanied by her first official drink.

She told E! host Ryan Seacrest: "I'll have a birthday party but I'll have a dinner on the actual birthday and I will order my first glass at a restaurant."

Gomez also revealed she has learnt a lot from her high-profile relationship with on/off boyfriend Justin Bieber - who she most recently spent time with to celebrate Independence Day.

Gomez explained: "I learned that I should definitely keep it way more private next time."

"I mean it's hard to just date in this industry, it really is, because it doesn't have to be anything serious, it can just be something fun - and it should be because I'm young - but, you just can't really help the people that you meet or that you fall in love with or that you want to date."

The former 'Wizards of Waverly Place' star admits she is looking for "honesty" and a fun in a guy, and someone who can deal with her career commitments.

Gomez said: "I want someone who can make me laugh and just be normal and understand my lifestyle and how I want to live it."
