The Pulitzer Prize-winning creator of the smash Broadway hit "Hamilton" Lin-Manuel Miranda is leaving the show in July.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Miranda will make his exit July 9 to work on other projects.
The hip hop musical centers on the life of American Founding Father Alexander Hamilton and has become a blockbuster hit since debuting in January 2015.
Miranda has gone on to win a Pulitzer and a Grammy for the play. The musical is also up for a record 16 nominations at the Tony Awards in June.
His stratospheric success with "Hamilton" has led to a slew of other projects: Miranda was tapped to write music for the Disney animated musical "Moana," while the Weinstein Co. just picked up the movie rights to his first musical "In the Heights."
It was also announced officially this week that he will star opposite Emily Blunt in "Mary Poppins Returns."
