Britney Spears memoir 'The Woman in Me' headed to the big screen

 Britney Spears鈥 story is headed to the big screen.

Universal has landed the rights to Spears鈥 bestselling memoir, 鈥淭he Woman in Me,鈥 which is being developed as a biopic of the pop star鈥檚 life, CNN has confirmed with the studio.

鈥淐razy Rich Asians鈥 director Jon M. Chu, who directed this fall鈥檚 highly anticipated 鈥淲icked鈥 movie, will direct the film. Oscar-nominated 鈥淲icked鈥 and 鈥淟a La Land鈥 producer Marc Platt is attached to produce.

On Thursday, Spears posted on X, 鈥淓xcited to share with my fans that I鈥檝e been working on a secret project with #MarcPlatt. He鈥檚 always made my favorite movies 鈥 stay tuned!鈥

Universal landed the rights to the bestseller after a highly competitive auction with other major studios and streamers interested in the project, a source close to the project says.

The studio has not released any information regarding Spears鈥 involvement in the film, but a source close to the singer tells CNN that she will be involved in the project.
