Jennifer Garner may have been at the Toronto Film Festival to discuss her new movie "Dallas Buyers Club," but she couldn't escape questions about husband Ben Affleck's new role as Batman.
The casting choice sparked an online backlash when it was announced last month.
"Believe me, you can't expect anything else," Garner said of the fuss. "He's a grown-up ... that is just what you're getting into. But he's going to be fantastic."
She says she had to keep the "Batman" role secret for "months and months."
"Dallas Buyers Club" features Matthew McConaughey as real-life Texas electrician Ron Woodroof, who fought to smuggle HIV/AIDS drugs from Mexico in the 1980s. Garner plays a doctor who tries to help him.
Clive Owen's daughters won't be seeing 'Closer' any time soon
Don't expect Clive Owen's daughters to be watching their father's Oscar-nominated performance in "Closer" any time soon.
The actor says that while he'd let them see his latest effort "Words and Pictures" -- which screened at the Toronto International Film Festival over the weekend -- he won't allow them to watch some of his other movies.
Directed by Mike Nichols, 2004's "Closer" is a frank look at the complicated sexual relationships between the four main characters.
Said Owen: "There (are) quite a few (of my films they can't see), and the scary thing is because they're getting older their mates now have all seen them, so they say: 'But so and so in my class has seen 'Closer.' And I go: 'But you're not.'
"I never want them to see 'Closer.' Not my little girls!"
Co-starring Juliette Binoche, "Words and Pictures" is about a friendly feud between an art teacher and an English teacher.
TIFF stars wade into Cairo protest
It's not all movie talk at the Toronto International Film Festival.
Several stars have banded together to call for the immediate release of Toronto filmmaker John Greyson and London, Ont., doctor Tarek Loubani from a Cairo prison.
The two Canadians have been held without formal charges since Aug. 16.
Toronto-based directors Atom Egoyan and Sarah Polley, documentary filmmaker Alex Gibney and acclaimed novelist Michael Ondaatje will be among those at a news conference Tuesday to press for their release.
Greyson and Loubani were travelling to a hospital in Gaza where Loubani teaches emergency medicine and where Greyson was invited to observe Loubani's work and film at the hospital.
Their friends say the two were arrested after asking for directions to their hotel at a police station.
Many festival-goers have been showing their support by wearing #FreeTarekandJohn buttons.
