Janis Mackey Frayer travelled to rural areas outside of the capital of Kathmandu, where she finds a wasteland of ruined villages.
She talked to a local doctor who, with friends and store owners, cobbled together a relief effort of their own -- with a small truck loaded with some food, some tarps and other supplies that ran out fast. Watch her report from Friday:
