TOKYO - Quebec Premier Jean Charest is ruling out a snap provincial election this fall.
There has been speculation the premier might be tempted to capitalize on the current bickering within the Opposition Parti Quebecois.
But speaking today in Tokyo, where he is on a trade mission, Charest said he wants to concentrate on economic development and new business markets for Quebec.
Charest's current Liberal government hasn't even been in power for three years since winning the last election in December 2008.
Charest has been premier since 2003 and says he will definitely be going for a fourth consecutive mandate at some point.
The premier will also visit China on his current trip to Asia.
