SAINT-GEORGES, Que. - Premier Jean Charest has rejected key suggestions advanced in a long-awaited report on Quebec's health system.
Charest says he won't ask citizens to put more money in the health system by paying user fees or higher sales tax.
Charest told reporters following a speech south of Quebec City that he will follow some suggestions in the report that could improve efficiency within the system.
It was Charest's first comments on the report by Claude Castonguay, the man known as the father of Quebec's medicare system.
Castonguay suggested creating a health sales tax and the possibility of having family medicine clinics collect a $100 annual user fee.
