QUEBEC - The Quebec government says it will follow the federal government and end its tax on feminine hygiene products.
The federal government announced earlier this year that feminine hygiene-products would be exempt from the goods and services tax.
Quebec Finance Minister Carlos Leitao said his government followed suit so taxpayers aren't penalized with different rules in Quebec.
Leitao's office says starting July 1 feminine hygiene products will be free of the federal Goods and Services Tax and the provincial Quebec sales tax.
The federal NDP claimed victory in the tampon tax file as several New Democrat MPs had been championing the cause for some time.
