U.S .President Barack Obama gave Prime Minister Justin Trudeau a "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" script signed by director J.J. Abrams when he visited Washington D.C. in March, according to a registry kept by the Office of the Conflict of Interest and Ethics Commissioner.

All public officeholders and their family members who receive gifts worth at least $200 are required to make a declaration to the ethics watchdog within 30 days.

Trudeau is known to be a devoted fan of the franchise. He and his wife Sophie Grégoire-Trudeau posed for photographers dressed as Han Solo and Princess Leia last Halloween.

Trudeau even gave an impromptu review of Return of the Jedi for CBC reporters after attending a screening with his father.

"It was better than 'The Empire Strikes Back' and 'Star Wars.' At least I think so," he said at age 11.

Trudeauā€™s family didnā€™t leave the U.S. capital emptyhanded. The president and first lady presented their Canadian counterparts with an olive branch sculpture by Maryland artist Zachary Oxman. The children received scooters, blocks, a Bo Obama ā€œThe First Dogā€ stuffed toy, as well as childrenā€™s books authored by Obama.
