FREDERICTON -- The premier of New Brunswick says it's important for energy to be able to flow across provincial borders.
David Alward says his province is pushing the idea of a new east-west pipeline to ship Alberta oil to his province during meeting with his counterparts in Halifax..
A national energy strategy is up for discussion at the meeting of the Council of the Federation.
However a dispute between British Columbia Premier Christy Clark and Alberta's Alison Redford over the proposed Northern Gateway pipeline could overshadow those discussions.
Clark says her province should be paid a greater share of the economic benefits from the pipeline.
Alward says that's an issue the two premiers need to work out, but it's important for prosperity to have a strategic energy sector and to take full advantage of this country's resources.
