Police in Richmond, B.C. are expressing frustration over a driver in their area who has been ticketed for distracted driving 14 times in the last five years – including two tickets in the last 10 days.
The police force recently tweeted a list of the woman’s infractions. They include seven distracted-driving tickets in the span of one year in the Lower Mainland –- all of them for using a cellphone while driving.
They said the reason they pulled her over this month was that she nearly crashed into an officer while she was on her phone.

The fine for distracted driving in B.C. is $167, which means the driver is facing more than $2,300 in fines. But it’s her car insurance that will take the biggest hit.
Each distracted-driving ticket adds three penalty points to a B.C. driver's licence. Since the driver has already earned 42 points, that adds up to more than a $16,000 driver penalty premium under ICBC, the Insurance Corporation of B.C.
