Canada’s mission in Iraq against the Islamic State is expected to cost about $122 million, according to soon-to-be-tabled government documents.
The estimated cost is for the full six-month mission, which began last October and will continue to mid-March.
“This week I will be tabling estimates in Parliament that will reflect the incremental costs for the Canadian military mission in Iraq. Estimated incremental costs to date are approximately $122 million,†Jason Kenney, Canada’s new defence minister, said in a statement released Monday.
“We have always committed to remain as open and transparent about this mission as possible, without compromising operational security.â€
He added there would be “additional costs†if the government votes to extend Operation Impact.
