On a month-over-month basis, total sales activity -- the number of homes that changed hands in Canada -- was modest in February, rising 0.3 per cent compared to January, and up 1.9 per cent from a year ago.

Still, CREA reported the average sale price of an existing home in Canada was $406,372 last month -- a 10.1 per cent increase over February 2013.
