LETHBRIDGE, Alta. - The City of Lethbridge says it will remove anti-abortion ads from transit buses, bus shelters and bus benches after hearing complaints from the community.
The ads include messages such as "Preborn Babies Feel Pain" and "Say No to Abortion."
The city says it has received more than 100 emails complaints about the ads and numerous social media messages.
The ads are to be removed from buses by Thursday and from bus benches and shelters by the weekend.
Kathy Dawson of the Abortion Rights Coalition of Canada says the group is pleased with the city's decision.
The coalition urged people concerned about the ads to send emails to the city and Pattison Outdoor Advertising.
After reviewing comments from city residents, the City of Lethbridge has made an administrative decision to remove pro-life advertisement from Lethbridge Transit buses, shelters and benches due to adverse community reaction.
