OTTAWA -- Statistics Canada says wholesale sales increased 0.1 per cent to $54.2 billion in October.

The federal agency says it is the second month in a row that wholesale sales have gone up.

It says five of the seven subsectors recorded higher sales, which accounted for 68 per cent of wholesale sales.

In volume terms, wholesale sales edged down 0.1 per cent.

Sales rose in five provinces in October, led by Saskatchewan.

Meanwhile, inventories were up for a tenth consecutive month, rising 1.2 per cent to $68.2 billion.
