Another U.S.-based company is shaking up Canada's retail landscape.

Best Buy Co. announced Saturday it has closed 131 Future Shop stores across Canada as part of a consolidation plan aimed at bolstering business. It will re-open 65 of them under the Best Buy brand after a one-week transition period.

The company says the move will eliminate 500 full-time and 1,000 part-time jobs, and will bring the total number of Best Buy stores in Canada to 192.

News of the restructuring comes as Target continues to wind down its Canadian operations -- something that's expected to be complete in the next few weeks.
