LOS ANGELES - Pop-punk princess Avril Lavigne is kicking off a North American tour next spring in Victoria.

The cocky songstress announced the 32-date run in a live Internet broadcast from a Hollywood nightclub, in front of a small audience of fans and press.

"I'm excited to go out and play live and perform," Lavigne said Tuesday from the Whisky a Go-Go.

Titled "The Best Damn Tour," Lavigne's run includes 12 Canadian stops across the western provinces and Ontario.

Tickets go on sale Saturday, Nov. 17, at Livenation.com.

The broadcast included a brief question-and-answer session and an acoustic performance of a handful of hits, including "Girlfriend" and "Sk8er Boi."

Now on her third album, Lavigne says she's racked up about 10 singles that will create for a more exciting live show for fans.

Lavigne has spent much of the year promoting her multimillion-selling disc, "The Best Damn Thing."

She's scheduled to perform in Montreal at an AIDS-awareness concert on Nov. 28, also featuring Sarah McLachlan and Angelique Kidjo.
