Aston Martin unveiled its Vanquish Zagato Concept, styled by Italian carrozzeria Zagato, just ahead of the car’s debut at the Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este, held near Lake Como in Italy.

The two companies have together turned out four unique sports car concepts, beginning with the DB4 GT Zagato of 1960; the Vanquish Zagato Concept represents their fifth joint effort.

“Developed and engineered at Aston Martin’s headquarters in Gaydon, England, the concept features proportions that remain quintessentially Aston Martin and emphasises a dynamic, forward-looking stance,†the automaker said in a release.

“The new bodywork is entirely shaped from carbon fibre, with the split lines on the body reduced by the use of large one-piece panels.â€

Highlights of the design include Zagato signatures, like its large, round taillights; and distinctive “double-bubble†roof.

Aston Martin did not refer to plans to produce the Vanquish Zagato Concept in any capacity—the collaborations are often intended to simply explore “avant-garde [design] expressions.â€

Of course, the car may also inform future models’ styling.
