KARACHI, Pakistan - A passenger train rammed into a cargo train outside of the southern city of Karachi on Tuesday after the driver apparently missed a signal to stop, killing 10 people including an infant, officials said.

More than 30 people were injured, said police officer Muzaffar Shaikh.

Aftab Memon, a senior railway official, said the cargo train was parked in a station on the outskirts of Karachi when it was rammed by the passenger train, apparently after the passenger train driver missed a red signal.

The first two carriages of the passenger train were badly damaged and two bodies remained trapped inside, officials said.

Pakistan has an antiquated train network and accidents are common.
